Who can volunteer?
Anyone. If you can show up and lend a hand, you belong in the kitchen. No cooking experience needed.
What happens at a Kitchen of Kindness session?
Volunteers come together to cook, package, and prepare meals in a warm, welcoming environment. People work side by side, help where needed, and leave knowing they did something real for someone else. Join our volunteer list to receive updates on the Kitchen of Kindness cooking dates.
Who are the meals for?
The meals go to people in El Paso who could use support and care. It’s our way of letting someone know, “You’re not alone. Someone out there is thinking about you.”
Who can receive a meal?
Anyone who could use the extra support. You can also request a meal for someone you know.
Can I refer someone to receive a meal?
Yes. If you know someone who would appreciate a meal, let us know. You can reach out privately, and we’ll handle it with sensitivity. Consider submitting this Meal Referral and we will handle it from there.
Is this only for people who are struggling financially?
No. This is about community. Sometimes a meal is not about money; it’s about feeling remembered, supported, and cared for.
Do I need to be part of the Chabad community to volunteer?
No. Kitchen of Kindness is open to everyone who wants to help.
Do I need cooking experience to volunteer?
Not at all. There’s always something to do: chopping, packing, labeling, setting up, cleaning, or organizing.
Can families volunteer together?
Yes. Families are welcome. Kids, teens, parents, and grandparents can all help, each in their own way.
Can teens volunteer?
Yes. Teens are welcome and often become leaders in the kitchen.
Is the food kosher?
Yes. All meals are prepared according to kosher standards.
Where does the cooking take place?
Kitchen of Kindness takes place at the Chabad Lubavitch Center for Jewish Life - 6516 Escondido Drive.
How often does Kitchen of Kindness happen?
We run Kitchen of Kindness sessions throughout the year. Dates and details are posted as they are scheduled.
